Alexandria Makers Market

The inaugural Alexandria Makers Market will debut on Sunday, Nov. 24 at Port City Brewing Company in Alexandria.

This family-friendly event will showcase the creative community of Alexandria-based creators, makers, designers and crafters, with vendors curated from highly talented artisans in Alexandria.

A diverse mix of local makers will pop-up and take over Port City’s parking lot, creating a nice experience to pick up some unique holiday gifts, while enjoying a Port City pint or two. The event will also feature DIY workshops throughout the day in which folks can learn to make a variety of crafty items.

The idea to launch an Alexandria Makers Market came from local Alexandrian Alyssa Kovach, who is a maker herself and launched A|VA Apparel, an online T-shirt shop that celebrates all the places and spaces that make Alexandria special. Through this business, she met many other Alexandria-based creatives and makers. Her desire for deeper camaraderie within this creative community inspired her to establish the Alexandria Makers Market in August 2019, as a venue to connect and foster meaningful collaboration throughout the city. Kovach’s future plans are to host several Alexandria Makers Market events throughout the City.

“My intention with Alexandria Makers Market is to celebrate all the hard-working creatives based in our city, and to enable opportunities for us to showcase our talent,” said Alyssa Kovach. “I approached Port City because they are incredible makers themselves. I thought they might appreciate the motivation of this concept in a way that other venues may not be able to relate to. I am so honored and grateful they have agreed to host our inaugural event.”

Example of participating makers includes: Tulusa Goods, Flora Roots and Stem, Apothecary Spices, Ohh Soy Goodness, Leah Bee Quilts, and A|VA Apparel.

12:45 - 1:45 p.m.: Brew Bath Bombs with PrisLetters

2 - 3 p.m.: Hand-Lettered Ornaments with PrisLetters

3:30 - 5 p.m.: Holiday Cookie Decorating with From Politics to Pastry
