Democratic 'Firehouse' Primary Scheduled for Alexandria City Council

Residents can choose a nominee among Democratic candidates for City Council in the 'firehouse' primary.

The Alexandria Democratic Committee will hold an unassembled caucus, also known as a firehouse primary, on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. to elect a nominee.

For those who would like to declare their candidacy to be the Democratic nominee for the Alexandria City Council seat, you must submit:

  1. A Declaration of Candidacy form which must be completed and presented in person or notarized and delivered on Friday, Feb. 6, 2026, between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to the Alexandria Democratic Committee Office, 2101A Mount Vernon Ave. in Alexandria.
  2. A filing fee of $750 with this completed receipt. Checks must be made out to the Alexandria Democratic Committee.
