Vice President Kamala Harris visited the yarn shop fibre space in Old Town Alexandria Wednesday to talk about how the pandemic has affected small businesses.
Against a colorful backdrop, Harris spoke with women and talked about the American Rescue Plan, President Joe Biden’s $1.9 trillion proposal to prop up the economy amid a continuing pandemic.
"Madam @vp visited today to hear our story and that of my staff — how we’ve pivoted during the pandemic and what we need headed into this spring and summer," owner Danielle Romanetti wrote on Facebook after the event. "We discussed our biggest concerns and fears during this pandemic. It was a wonderful opportunity for us and our small business community. So grateful for this opportunity. So grateful."
fibre space is one of the many Alexandria businesses that had to do a serious pivot when the pandemic hit, switching to online classes, curbside pick-up and ‘getting started’ knitting kits to homebound Alexandrians. fibre space™ is owned and operated by Danielle Romanetti and opened at 1319 Prince St in 2009.
