Longtime local business Spokes Etc., the bicycle shop that has its flagship location in Alexandria, at 1545 N. Quaker Lane, and another in Belle View, has been sold to Trek Bicycle Corporation, the owners announced Monday. The company has been in business since 1986 and has four other locations in Vienna, Fairfax, Arlington and Leesburg.
The name of the stores will change to Trek Bicycle Stores by mid-March. Employees of the Spokes stores will be given the opportunity to continue working at the stores.

To the Spokes Etc. community,
It is with mixed emotions that we let you know that Spokes, Etc. has been sold to Trek Bicycle Corporation. In mid-March, all six of our Northern Virginia locations will become Trek Bicycle stores.
It wasn’t an easy decision to sell the business we’ve owned and operated since 1986. Yet the reality is that we aren’t in our 20s anymore. Having been in partnership with Trek for two decades, we believe it’s the right owner to take over our business.
Trek shares our core values and takes care of its customers. Equally important, it takes care of its people. Many of our team members will stay on board after the transition, giving you the same personalized service you’ve come to expect from Spokes.
You may have questions about gift cards and non-Trek products you’ve purchased from us. To help answer these questions, we’ve prepared the attached Q&A(see link below). Should you have any additional questions or concerns, please contact the management team at the Spokes location where you made your purchase.
Since the transition isn’t happening until mid-March, we’ll be around for several more weeks. It’s been fun to watch so many of you become cycling enthusiasts and an honor to serve your cycling needs for nearly four decades. We hope you’ll stop by so we can thank you in person.
