Skin Scholars is open this week at The Seedling Collective, 121 S. Royal St.
Skin Scholars pop-up shop, open until Aug. 24 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., is offering three Beauty Bars that allow customers to build custom skin care products that suit their personal needs.
The shop also features Legacy handmade Skin Care products for men and woman to purchase, as well as herbal knowledge passed down for more than 7 generations of indigenous tribal medicine. The founders, Elaina Bright and Alysia Bright, learned from their ancestors, including their grandmother who is still alive at 93.
Earlier this summer, the Alexandria Economic Development Partnership (AEDP) announced it was looking for three fresh pop-up ideas to operate rent-free in the Seedling Collective for one week each. In addition to Skin Scholars, the winners of the competition, which popped up earlier this summer, were:
- Jennifer Allevato, Jennifer Allevato Fine Art - The artist used the space as a working studio and gallery.
- Ezgi Kaya, Mom&I by EK - A jewelry company that hosted a beading class in addition to retail sales.
AEDP’s Pop-up ALX program arranges pop-ups around Alexandria, allowing vendors to test the market without making a long-term commitment. The Seedling Collective is a creative working space that opened in May 2019 at 121 S. Royal St.
Skin Scholars is hosting Happy Hour each day from 2-5 p.m. for BOGO 50% off the Beauty Bar Series. Custom consultations are available anytime.
