Community Three and Whitaker Investment has secured a $96 million construction loan to move forward on a new mixed-use building with apartments, condos and retail at 1033 N. Fairfax St. in Old Town North.
The three 1980s-era office buildings are expected to be transformed into a vibrant, mixed-use property known as TideLock in Alexandria's Old Town North neighborhood when it opens in 2026.
"Built in 1983, the three existing office buildings that were formerly home to the American Physical Therapy Association will become a mixed-use development with 169 residential rental apartments, 65 luxury condominiums, and about 7,000 square feet of retail and arts space. Eleven of the rental units and four of the condos will be set aside for affordable housing," according to the property owners. "The development will also feature a public pedestrian promenade leading to TideLock park, public art installations and an historical interpretive display."
Community Three and Whitaker Investment Corp. are behind the project.
