"Love your show babe," is a signature phrase on the Jack Diamond Radio show and sure to be on the minds of fans as legendary D.C. radio host Jack Diamond airs his last show Friday morning on MIX 107.3.
The show airs from 6-10 a.m. weekdays.
EMF bought the transmitter from Cumulus Broadcasting, and EMF leaders have decided to can the Jack Diamond Show, the show announced Friday morning.
In addition, MIX 107.3 will go away at 7 p.m. Friday, May 31, being replaced entirely.
EMF is based out of Sacramento, California, and the company "pipes in satellite-driven programming to big major market, and medium- and small-market radio stations," Diamond explained in a video at www.mix1073.com/farewell. "Without getting into the politics of all that, they're not interested in all of this. ... They have their own satellite-delivered programming that they want to put in Washington, D.C. at 107.3."
Diamond explained on his Facebook page Friday morning:
"In everything in life, there is always a final day. Today is the final day in the storied 30 year history of Mix 107.3 host of The Jack Diamond Show. Will pay homage and celebrate the legacy of the many greats who worked on Q107 and for the past 30 years on The Jack Diamond Show. It’s been an incredible run by a remarkable staff powered by you."
The final 107.3 show is being streamed live on Facebook Friday morning.
Diamond's sidekick Jimmy Alexander also posted information on his social media sites about the show:
"In 1997, I joined Mix107.3’s “Diamond in the Morning” along with Jack, Stacey Binn, and Barbra Britt... and now in 2019 with Erica Hilary, & Blaire Kelleher, The Jack Diamond Morning Show says goodbye to WRQX.
I’m not sad, because I understand how lucky I’ve been. Between the wonderful people I’ve worked with, some who have become like family... and to those of you who listen to The Jack Diamond Morning Show...
You helped raise millions of dollars for local charities, you volunteered for countless rides, runs, and races, and would always let us know you were part of our family by saying... 'Love Your Show'.
For that I can’t thank you enough"
