Unless you noticed it while grabbing a smoothie from South Block, you may have missed Intertribal Creatives, the newest occupant at 106. N. Lee St.
According to their website, Intertribal Creatives is a “decolonized space to celebrate the art, culture, business, and community work of Indigenous people, located on ancestral Piscataway and Anacostan land in Old Town Alexandria.”
Intertribal Creatives is a project of Running Strong for American Indian Youth, an organization headquartered in Alexandria whose missions is to “help Native American people meet their immediate survival needs – food, water, and shelter – while implementing and supporting programs designed to create opportunities for self-sufficiency and self-esteem.”

Intertribal Creatives Shop
Intertribal Creatives opened a pop-up store in early December and features the work of Indigenous artists from around the country. Some of the items in the gallery include dreamcatchers, prints, paintings, jewelry, woodwork and many other unique products.
The gallery occupies the former space of Vikriya Lab, a yoga studio which permanently shut its doors in June of 2020 due to COVID-19.
At the end of December, the gallery announced on their Instagram page that they will launch an online store in January while the physical space is closed and undergoes construction through the early spring.
