Land Rover Alexandria on Duke Street.
The Beyer Auto group is vacating its Land Rover dealership at the intersection of Duke Street and Telegraph Road in favor of new, larger digs on Van Dorn Street just over the Fairfax County line.
And now, there's information about what could become of the original Land Rover Alexandria dealership: An organization is interested in building affordable housing there, according to Washington Business Journal, which first reported on the development.
Community Housing Partners is interested in building a 93-unit building of two-bedroom and three-bedroom apartments, all affordable at 40 to 80 percent of the area median income.
According to the construction bid request from the company, "Design plans call for the construction of a five-story above grade, 93-unit multi-residential development; 68-space parking garage; and for paving for a parking garage. ... Although a firm timeline for construction has not been determined, construction is not expected to begin before spring 2022."
Community Housing Partners is a nonprofit organization collaborates with private and public entities to develop and preserve homes. The closest Community Housing Partners properties to Alexandria are in Lorton (the Lindsay Hill Senior Apartments). In addition, the organization helps people prepare for homeownership.
