After closing its office in Tysons, Verdence Capital Advisors has moved to Alexandria, the firm recently announced, and it has opened an office at 44 Canal Center Plaza, Suite 550. A grand opening is planned for June 20.
The firm's nearly 6,000-square foot office space features 2,500 square feet of terrace overlooking the Potomac River. The office is adding to its team and will ultimately have about 20 employees.
Verdence Managing Director and Partner Charles S. Holt will continue to lead the office and its growth. Holt and his wife, Christina, who have three daughters, have called Alexandria home for the past 30 years.
Headquartered in Hunt Valley, Md., Verdence is a firm with clients across the country. Due to its Mid-Atlantic headquarters, the firm serves many clients in the Northern Virginia and Washington DC area. Verdence gets its name from the Latin word “Vere” meaning “true,” combined with the word “Independence.”
Through its foundation, Verdence plans to get involved in the Alexandria community, including with ACT of Alexandria and Alexandria Seaport Foundation.
CEO Leo Kelly founded Verdence Capital Advisors in the summer of 2017 after breaking away from HighTower Advisors, where he was a managing director and a partner. The practice that today is called Verdence got its start during Kelly’s time at Merrill Lynch. The Kelly Group at Merrill Lynch Wealth Management formed in 1999. In 2012, Kelly decided to leave Merrill Lynch, where he’d worked since 1996, to look for a better cultural fit for his practice.
