One of the best sites for watching the District's fireworks show on the Fourth of July is at Gravelly Point Park, just outside Alexandria. The park is perfect for families who want a large open area to spread out and have a great view of the D.C. fireworks display from just across the Potomac River. Gravelly Point is just north of Ronald Reagan National Airport along the George Washington Parkway, so you can enjoy some pretty spectacular views of the planes flying overhead. Parking is limited on site, but you can walk from the blue and yellow line Metro stations at Reagan National Airport or Crystal City. Learn more here.
The fireworks don't stop on the Fourth! Don't miss the City of Alexandria's own fireworks show on Saturday, July 7 for Alexandria's 269th birthday celebration. The festivities start around 6:00 p.m. so check out a few of Old Town Alexandria's restaurants and bars as you make your way down King Street to Oronoco Bay Park on the waterfront. The birthday party includes live music and entertainment until the fireworks show starts at 9:30 p.m. More information is available through Visit Alexandria here.
