Fairfax County announced Thursday that local public golf courses will start reopening Friday, May 8.
These sites will open in this order with measures to encourage physical distancing and sanitation:
- May 8: Burke Lake Golf Center, Greendale Golf Course, Laurel Hill Golf Club
- May 15: Pinecrest Golf Course and Twin Lakes Golf Course (Oaks)
- May 22: Jefferson Golf Course, Oak Marr Golf Complex and Twin Lakes Golf Course (Lakes)
"To ensure the safety of our staff and customers, courses will implement measures aligning with the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) social distancing and sanitation guidelines and the National Golf Course Owners Association’s Park and Play program," according to Fairfax County Park Authority's release.
The changes include systems for online payment in advance, faster check-in procedures, limited occupancy in clubhouses and food only available for take out. Course-specific guidelines are in place and can be found online at Park Authority Golf.
Golfers can prepay for tee times up to 7 days in advance at www.golfnow.com starting May 8.
