Alexandria residents may be able to see a part of the total lunar eclipse Sunday night through mostly cloudy skies, according to the latest weather forecast, but you’ll want to bundle up.
Most rain will stop by mid-day Sunday, before temperatures plummet Sunday afternoon. The low temperature Sunday night will be in the single digits.
At 10:34 p.m. (ET) Sunday, a full lunar eclipse will start, lasting until 1:51 a.m. Monday.
In addition to the full lunar eclipse, the moon will be “super”-sized because it is near its closest point in orbit to the Earth. Depending on atmospheric conditions, sunlight from the other side of the earth may make also moon look at bit red.
Add in the traditional name of the January full moon – wolf – and we’re looking at a very rare full lunar eclipse over a super blood wolf moon.
Monday is a holiday for most workers (in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr.), so even the kids can stay up to see this one.
