Summer arrived this weekend in Alexandria, with temperatures hovering near 90 degrees. It was also the first ever Festival of Speed & Style along lower King Street.
The street festival brought together vintage sports cars, a fashion show from the Old Town Boutique District, music and more. The event featured approximately 60 rare and unusual supercars from around the world such as Ferrari, Jaguar, Porsche, Lamborghini, Aston-Martin and Cobra for up close viewing enjoyment.
The festival was the brainchild of Rick Myllenbeck, who is also the owner of Sonoma Cellar wine tasting room and restaurant in Old Town. The event was co-produced by a group of Alexandria vintage car collectors and enthusiast who travel across the world participating in classic and exotic car events.
“This is all about the community and sharing,” said Myllenbeck. “We want to share beautiful cars and local fashion with residents and visitors, while bringing attention to Alexandria’s charming and unique Old Town area and benefiting Act for Alexandria — a terrific community-based charitable organization.”
Alexandria Living Magazine was the official media sponsor of the festival.
