Visit Alexandria announced Monday it is actively preparing to support its members, visitors and residents in the face of a potential federal government shutdown.
"Our priority is to keep you informed and positioned to welcome guests confidently during this period," the organization said in a letter to members.
"We’ve launched a dedicated webpage highlighting that Alexandria — including our attractions, restaurants, shops, and hotels — remains open: https://visitalexandria.com/governmentshutdown/."
The City of Alexandria is also committed to supporting those who may be impacted by a potential government shutdown and other possible federal government actions, and it will make additional resources available should a shutdown take place.
Alexandria is also coordinating closely with local and regional partners to stay informed and ensure consistent messaging across the region.
Congressional leaders are expected to meet with President Trump Monday afternoon. If Congress cannot reach an agreement, a government shutdown would begin at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1.
