The 38th Annual Ballyshaner's St. Patrick's Day Parade is Saturday, March 2, 2019 in Old Town Alexandria.
The parade will feature more than 100 bagpipers as well as an array of classic cars, dogs, dignitaries and local organizations proudly wearing green.
The event is possible thanks to the Ballyshaners, a local organization dedicated to promoting and preserving Old Town’s Irish history. (Read more about the organization here.)
The festivities start at 11 a.m. with the Fun Dog Show at Market Square on King Street in front of City Hall. The event benefits the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria and features dogs competing for titles of “Most St. Paddy’s Spirit,” “Best Human/Canine Look-Alike” and “Most Creative Costume.”
The parade starts at 12:30 p.m., kicked off by the Fun Dog Show participants.
The parade starts at King and Alfred Streets, heads east on King Street and turns north on Lee Street. The parade ends at Lee and Cameron Streets. (See the map below.)
There will be no classic car show this year.
